Lucio Fontana is the famous Italian artist who in 1950 founded the “movimento spazialista”. Starting already from the 40, Fontana goes beyond the distinction between painting and sculpture and chooses not to represent space, but simply make the canvas itself, interrupted by cuts, holes and pads, an area in relation to reality. No more brushes, but razor blades, delineates the work of art, thanks to a clever use of light and shade placed with the framework.
Lucio Fontana è il celebre artista italiano che nel 1950 ha fondato il movimento spazialista. A partire già dagli anni ’40, Fontana va oltre la distinzione tra pittura e scultura e sceglie di non rappresentare semplicemente lo spazio ma rendere la tela stessa, interrotta da tagli, buchi e rilievi, una superficie in relazione con la realtà. Non più i pennelli, ma le lame di rasoio delineano l’opera d’arte, grazie anche ad un sapiente uso della luce e delle ombre posizionate insieme al quadro.
