Sharp swords and round table

A famous story know by everybody: "The knights of round table". A film where is easy to identify both sharp tools, like the blades of the knights' swords, and round shape ones, like the famous round table, or shields from the curves of the riders. But even the plates themselves have many elements that can be considered sharp and rounded.

 

Una storia famosissima che di sicuro tutti conosciamo: "I cavalieri della tavola rotonda". Un film in cui e facile individuare sia strumenti affilati, come le lame delle spade dei cavalieri, che strumenti dalla forma arrotondata, come la famosa tavola rotonda oppure gli scudi dalle linee curve dei cavalieri. Ma anche le armature stesse hanno molti elementi che possono essere considerati affilati e arrotondati.

A man with sharp hands

Historical film, Edward Scissorhands is a precise example of the "sharp" concept. In the movie, the protagonist's hands are in fact replaced by sharp scissors. Edward will be loved by the people who will welcome him into their home. But soon his Scissorhands, due to their sharpness, causing trouble to those around him.

Film passato alla storia, Edward mani di forbice è un esatto esempio del concetto "affilato". Nel film, le mani del protagonista sono infatti sostituite da forbici affilate. Edward verrà  amato dalla gente che lo accoglierà dentro la propria casa. Ma ben presto le sue mani di forbice, proprio per la loro affilatezza, causeranno dei guai a chi gli sta intorno.

The sharp makes you rounded…for a kiss!

The spot of Wilkinson "fight for kisses" uses with irony and comedy the combination sharpness-softness to advertise a new product. Irony aim to distort a classic concept of advertising of razors for men: the effectiveness of razor that may raze so well that makes the skin soft "as that of a child." From this, in the spot was born a comic fight between father and son to win the attention and the mum’s kisses.

It’s a significant exemple in our case because the concepts of sharp and rounded are the protagonists of this advertising: the sharpness of the razor leads to the softness and the perfect roundness of man’s face.

  

Lo spot della Wilkinson “Fight for kisses” utilizza con ironia e comicità il connubio affilatezza-morbidezza per pubblicizzare un nuovo prodotto. L’ironia punta a stravolgere un concept classico delle pubblicità di rasoi per uomo: l’efficacia del rasoio che può radere così bene da far diventare la pelle morbida “come quella di un bambino”. Da questo nasce nello spot una comica lotta tra padre e figlio per conquistare le attenzioni e i baci della mamma.

È un esempio significativo nel nostro caso perché i concetti di affilato e arrotondato sono i protagonisti di questa pubblicità: l’affilatezza del rasoio porta alla morbidezza e alla perfetta rotondità del viso glabro.

Sharpness measure and safety measures

   
The safety issues related to any sharp edges or elements have been dealt with in detail by the European Union and the national legislature.

In particular are interesting the regulations UNI EN 1729 on school furniture: for the articles of furniture of schools we need a particular attention in the case of children, all calls promoted by municipalities and institutions require the participants to meet those standards that require specific measures for the edges and corners of the objects.

Le problematiche sulla sicurezza legate ad eventuali spigoli o elementi taglienti sono state trattate nel dettaglio dall’Unione Europea e dalla legislatura nazionale. In particolare sono interessanti le normative UNI EN 1729-1 sugli arredi scolastici: per gli oggetti di arredamento degli istituti scolastici occorre una particolare attenzione trattandosi di bambini, tutti i bandi promossi da comuni ed enti richiedono ai partecipanti di soddisfare tali norme che prevedono specifiche misure per gli spigoli e gli angoli degli oggetti.
